Since recently starting the Partner Sales Academy, I have realized the skills and experiences acquired from five years in the Marine Corps are definitely appreciated. I have been in the IT business as an HR professional for over 15 years and I can say, with conviction, that Cisco Systems absolutely got it right with the Partner Sales Academy. The process for selecting candidates has been well thought out and the people at Cisco who implement this program are passionate and driven to see the students succeed. I don’t offer public comments often, but I feel this program needs more attention because of all the good it’s doing for college graduates, people changing careers, and the future growth of Cisco partners, like Logicalis.
"I would be nowhere near where I am today"
I was in the Academy for three months, then out in the field only two weeks later, selling on my own. I went into the Academy with zero technical skills or knowledge - I didn’t even know what a switch or a server was. Throughout my 3 months in the Academy, I learned more about technology than I ever thought possible. Not only did I learn the technical aspects necessary, but I was taught many different styles of how to sell during different phases of the sales process.
One thing I did not realize in those first three months was how beneficial and lucky I was to be able to make connections and friendships with Cisco’s internal staff and people I now use as resources on a daily basis. I have now been in the field for just over three months and I’ve already had great deal of success. Fortunately, I don’t see an end in sight! I can promise if I did not gain the knowledge and insight I did from the Academy, I would be nowhere near where I am today.
"An extremely valuable experience"
I have spent the last month immersed in the Partner Sales Academy, and it has been an extremely valuable experience already. I have made countless connections and learned so much through our classes. The instructors are top-notch and overall, I feel like I've matured as a salesman and cannot wait to get started in the sales world.
"All of the associates are determined people"
I only began bootcamp in July 2013, but I have found all of the associates in the program are hardworking, determined people. I have a background in engineering, but irrespective of the path a candidate decides to take (technical or sales), he or she learns about different areas of business, engineering and sales, which is vital in building a successful career.
